Experience thrill of rafting in Qingyuan this summer
The 2025 Guangdong Qingyuan Rafting Culture and Tourism Season and the 2025 International Rafting Competition (Qingyuan, China) kicked off on May 27.
The 2025 International Rafting Open (Qingyuan, China) brought together athletes from five countries, with 80 teams competing fiercely in the fast-flowing rivers of Qingyuan, marking the thrilling start of the summer tourism season in this city.
Qingyuan, known as the "Home of Rafting in China", is a major hub for rafting in Guangdong Province. Its five major rafting destinations—each with its own unique charm—serve as iconic attractions that showcase the vibrant rafting culture of Qingyuan.
01 Gulong Gorge (古龙峡), located in Qingyuan's Gulong Gorge Scenic Area (古龙峡景区), serves as the rafting course for the China International Rafting Competition, and is world-renowned for its exhilarating rafting experience. Spanning 6,063 meters with a drop of 378 meters, the course offers thrilling rides as high-speed rafts shoot through raging torrents, navigate rocky descents, and crash into surging whitewater, delivering the sensation of riding a roller coaster atop roaring waves.
02 Huangteng Gorge (黄腾峡), located in Qingyuan's Huangteng Gorge Ecotourism Area (黄腾峡生态旅游区), features a thrilling 4.8-kilometer rafting course through a pristine canyon. Along the way, riders can encounter breathtaking scenery—cascading waterfalls, deep pools, unique rock formations, and lush forests—in an unforgettable journey. Flanked by towering cliffs and majestic peaks, this rafting course thunders through rapids and plunges past cascading waterfalls, leaving visitors reluctant to leave and in awe of its stunning beauty.
03 Qinglong Gorge (青龙峡), located in Qingyuan's Bijia Mountain Tourist Area (笔架山旅游区), offers an exhilarating 3.8-kilometer rafting course with a total drop of 130 meters. The rugged mountain terrain, steep valley slopes, and fast-flowing waters create a thrilling adventure full of twists and turns.
04 Xuanzhen Canyon Water Park (玄真峡谷嬉水王国), known as the "Best Rafting Destination in South China", features two distinct rafting courses: a racing course and a cliffside course.
The racing course spans 5.8 kilometers of pristine natural riverbed. It features beautiful scenery and clear water, offering a moderately exciting experience that makes it a preferred choice for families and group tours. The cliffside course stretches 6,066 meters with a total drop of 498 meters, propelling rafters at speeds over 70 km/h through 360-degree aerial spins, delivering an exhilarating rush.
05 Qingquan Bay (清泉湾), located in Qingyuan's Qingquan Bay Ecotourism Area (清泉湾生态旅游区), features a 3.8-kilometer natural waterway meandering through bamboo forests and canyons, where dramatic drops provide heart-pounding thrills. The newly upgraded elevated glass rafting course stretches 1,000 meters, offering a unique blend of excitement and romance for an unforgettable experience.
