Experience a warm winter wellness coastal trip in Maoming
Where to go during winter? China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has recommended special seasonal cuisine tourism routes across the country. One notable route is Maoming City in Guangdong Province's "Savor fresh seafood, enjoy the beautiful islands – Maoming's warm winter wellness coastal trip".
This route revolves around the two themes of coastal scenery and wellness, with nodes including Aonei Bay (Tongzi Bay) – Yanjing Hill – Tangxia Li Street – China's First Beach – Shuidong Bay Ocean Park – Romantic Coast Resort – Hengshan Food Street – Fangji Island Scenic Area – Bohe Fishing Port (Bohe Xu Night Market) – Liantou Hill (Seaside Lighthouse) – Yushui Ancient Hot Spring Resort.
Aonei Bay, a natural fishing port surrounded by sea on three sides, offers picturesque scenery and is a treasure trove for photographers and beachcombers.
Yanjing Hill features a footpath along the winding hills, and after reaching the summit, visitors can see a prominent white lighthouse, a popular spot for social media check-ins.
Tangxia Li Street conveys the lively atmosphere of Li people's culture, Tanjia culture, and Xu Day culture through antique-style fishing village architecture and immersive performances.
China's First Beach stretches for 12 kilometers, with a beach width of about 300 meters, earning it the nickname "Eastern Hawaii."
Shuidong Bay Ocean Park boasts the scenic "marine forest" – a mangrove viewing area, as well as a wooden footpath winding through the center of the mangroves, about 1,500 meters long.
Romantic Coast Resort, besides clear water and white sand, is dotted with Southeast Asian exotic architectural styles and unique buildings themed around "love and romance."
Fangji Island, a national 4A-level tourist attraction with an area of 1.9 square kilometers, is the largest island in Maoming and one of the largest diving, marine entertainment, and island leisure and vacation destinations in China.
Maoming's Bohe Fishing Port is one of the top ten fishing ports in China and is known as the "millennium fishing port, warehouse of the world's fish."
The most prominent landmark on Liantou Hill is a red lighthouse. Next to the lighthouse, there is a gentle beach and many natural reefs.
Yushui Ancient Hot Spring Resort has been a hot spring scenic area since the Tang Dynasty. The hot spring water here reaches a temperature of 82 degrees Celsius and is known as a "five-star hot spring in China."
In addition to the tourist route, Maoming's coastal specialities such as Diancheng Cuttlefish Cake, Diancheng Fish Fritters (Oyster Fritters), Ginger Stew, Aonei Bay Shrimp Peel, and Shrimp Paste have also been selected for the national special seasonal Winter Solstice cuisine recommendation list.
