Xinhui Academy

　　Xinhui Academy is located at No. 12, Gongyuan Road, Chengdong Community, Huicheng Sub-district, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City. The Academy is not only a place for ancient imperial examination education, Confucius worship, and the study of classical rituals and music in the Xinhui region, but also a significant symbol of the transmission of Xinhui's cultural heritage, emphasizing respect for the sages and honoring virtuous individuals. It is known for its unique "temple and academy in one" design.
　　The construction of Xinhui Academy began in the 4th year of the Qingli (1044) during the Northern Song Dynasty. Over the centuries, the Academy underwent multiple expansions and renovations, never ceasing to function, and gradually became one of the largest and most prestigious academic institutions in the history of Xinhui. Covering an area of 12,189㎡ with a building area of 3,225 square meters, Xinhui Academy was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in 1988. The surviving structures include the Lingxing Gate, Panchi Pond, Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, two libraries, two corridors, two pavilions, the Zunjing Pavilion, Luchong Hall, and Daohe Hall, all arranged symmetrically along the central axis.
　　The central structure of the Academy is Dacheng Hall, the site where offerings are made to Confucius, the ancient sage. In front of the hall is a platform constructed from granite stone slabs, preserving the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty. Chen Xianzhang, a renowned Confucian scholar from Xinhui, was honored after his death by being enshrined in the Confucian temple, becoming the first person from Lingnan to be consecrated in the temple. Therefore, the architecture of Dacheng Hall is particularly grand: it stands 17 meters tall with an area of 567㎡, making it one of the largest Dacheng Halls in the Lingnan region.
　　Through the ups and downs of history, the ancient Xinhui Academy has continued its tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education, providing lasting influence on future generations of scholars in Xinhui.
