Tengyun Academy
Tengyun Academy is located within the Ye Ting Memorial Park in Zhoutian Village, Qiuchang Street, Huiyang District, Huizhou City, to the left of General Ye Ting’s former residence. It is now one of the main attractions of the Ye Ting Memorial Park. Built in the fifth year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1825), Tengyun Academy was founded by the Ye clan of the Hui Shui Lou lineage, as a private school for the descendants of the clan to attend for free. The academy covers an area of 180 square meters and is constructed with rammed earth walls and a tile roof. The interior includes a classroom, study room, teacher's quarters, kitchen, and a courtyard. Tengyun Academy served as a place where General Ye Ting received education in nationalism and democracy during his youth. It was also an important site for early underground activities of the Chinese Communist Party. During the periods of the Great Revolution, the Land Revolution, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the War of Liberation, the academy played a significant role. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Tengyun Academy has been well maintained and preserved.
In 2022, it was designated as a cultural heritage site by the Guangdong Provincial Government.
