Huang Clan Ancestral Hall and Xizhuang Study Hall
The Huang Clan Ancestral Hall and Xizhuang Study Hall is located in Shanghe Community, Xinan Subdistrict, Bao’an District, Shenzhen. Originally serving as the ancestral hall for the fourth branch of the Shangchuan Huang clan (descendants of the fourth son of the founding ancestor), it was first built in the late Ming Dynasty and has undergone several renovations. The existing structure exhibits the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty and faces northeast to southwest. The layout consists of three bays, two halls with an atrium, and two side corridors. The structure spans 9.3 meters in width and 18 meters in depth, covering an area of approximately 167 square meters. It features exposed brick walls and wooden beam framing. The floors of the front and rear halls are made of rammed earth, while the atrium is paved with granite. The roof is of the gable type with a decorative ridgeline and double-sloped eaves, covered with glazed tiles. The stone plaque above the entrance is inscribed with “Xizhuang Study Hall.”
On July 15, 1998, it was designated as a Shenzhen Cultural Heritage Protection Unit.
In June 2021, it was recognized alongside Yunye Academy as a Shenzhen Social Organization Exchange and Service Demonstration Site in the cultural, educational, health, and sports sectors. In November of the same year, it became the first Shenzhen Family Education and Family Tradition Practice Base in Bao’an District.
