The former site of Zhenxian School is located at No. 2, Alley 1, Dongdajie, Nanping Community, Nanping Town, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai. Originally named Zhenxian School, it was established in 1871 through the leadership and funding of Rong Hong, known as the "Father of Chinese Overseas Students." The site covers an area of approximately 1,117.6 square meters. In 1906, the school was renamed Zhenxian School (also known as Zhenxian Two-Level Primary School) and was divided into primary and advanced levels, abolishing the traditional eight-legged essays and adopting a new curriculum. After the September 18 Incident, the school became the base for a youth resistance promotion group that frequently organized activities advocating for resistance. Zhenxian School is one of China’s earliest overseas Chinese schools and among the earliest privately established schools in Guangdong Province, holding significant value for research on educational reform and history in China.
In 2008, it was designated as a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit.
In 2018, relevant authorities undertook renovations and adaptations of the Zhenxian School site, converting it into the Rong Hong Museum. It now serves as an important venue in Zhuhai for showcasing the integration of Chinese overseas study culture with Xiangshan culture and for promoting patriotic education.
